The Company
Fluidic, Inc. is a vertically integrated provider of distributed energy storage solutions with headquarters in Scottsdale, US and production operations in Bogor, Indonesia. Fluidic was founded in 2006 and has been supported by Madrone Capital Partners, TN2, IFC, Caterpillar and Flextronics amongst others.
Impact
Rural electrification: Following the completion of several successful pilot projects, Fluidic has signed MOUs for projects which will provide battery storage to electrify rural communities in Indonesia and Madagascar. The Fluidic team has rallied around the ambitious goal of delivering electricity to more than 100 million people by 2025 and has currently delivered projects to connect 3,157,500 people.
Clean and sustainable: No heavy metals (e.g. lead, mercury or cadmium), fossil, fuel or other toxic elements involved in the manufacture or use of the zinc-air fuel cells. Fluidic operates an end-of-life program and all components are recyclable and the fuel cell is designed for easy refurbishment. Zinc-air electrolytes are not flammable, which makes the zinc-air battery safer to operate than lithium ion, which are very flammable in contact with air. The durability and lifetime slopes of Fluidic’s zinc-air fuel cells are two times Li-ion and three times lead acid batteries.
Replaces diesel generator sets and lead-acid batteries: Fluidic’s energy storage systems replace the need for fossil fueled generation which has air emissions and battery alternatives which may use heavy metals.
Positive climate impact: Fluidic’s battery storage system can offset the energy generated from a fossil fueled source. To date, based on the operating hours of Fluidic’s energy storage systems, over 3,000 tons of carbon dioxide has been avoided.
Environmental Management: Since November 2015, the Bogor has implemented an environmental management system which is certified to ISO 14001 standard.
Local employment: For the Bogor facility, Fluidic has set a requirement for 60 percent of the workforce to originate from Desa Cimandala, which is the district where the facility is located.
